GSL-Artira Inclined Platform Lift
City of Brighton
36 S. Main St.
Brighton, Colorado
|
The Situation
|
This facility has a fairly high level of visitors. Many of the offices are on the second floor, but the building was not constructed with an elevator.
With no room for a vertical lift, and an elevator retrofit cost of well over $150,000, the City of Brighton chose the GSL-Artira.
The Artira installed into their existing stairway, and provides accessibility without the costs associated with trying to retrofit an elevator into the building.

The Tubing for the lift running down the stairs. Note that the tubes are direct mounted where possible, and tower mounted. This is the level of customization that Garaventa is capable of, and the detail that Freedom Lifts pays to the job.
The lift makes a 180 degree turn at the top of the stairs. Note the third tube (the one between the top tube and the lower tube). This is a Code-Compliant height handrail. Without it, these stairs would not meet code. This is another level of detail that we take.
The lift makes a 90 degree turn at the bottom of the stairs.
The Artira at the lower landing in the folded position. Note the call controls just to the left of the lift.
The Artira call controls are very simple and clear. Note that this lift is key-operated, but keyless operation is an available option.
The Artira is the only lift with "SmartLight" technology. Note that when you activate the lift, the lift knows what would be appropriate for you to do (such as call the lift down, or unfold the platform), and the controls light the appropriate button saying "Press Me".
The controls on the lift itself are large, illuminated buttons in a comfortable position for the user.
The lift at the lower landing in the unfolded position. Note that the appropriate arm is raised and ramp is unfolded, leaving the other arm and ramp in position for safety.
The lift at the upper landing in the unfolded position. Note that the appropriate arm is raised and ramp is unfolded, leaving the other arm and ramp in position for safety.
