Xpress II Inclined Platform Lift
Country Club of The Rockies
Edwards, Colorado
|
The Situation
|
This facility had an elevator to serve the primary floors (basement and main level), the main level had a section which was approximately 20" lower. This meant that there were three stairs, which were an obstacle to someone in a wheelchair.
Rather than install 20 feet of ramp (this would require over 60 square feet of space from their hall), they chose to install a Garaventa Xpress II to meet their ADA requirements.

The Xpress II in the folded position.
Note the tower mounts, permitting it to be mounted even when no wall is present.
The Xpress II has a narrow profile, taking only approximately 12" from the stairway width.
Unfolded at the lower landing. Note that only the appropriate arm and ramp open for safety.
Unfolded at the top. This is where the safety provided by the arm and ramp is appreciated.
The call stations were mounted neatly in a nearby location for a clean look.
